American
Innovation.

Morris Industries leverages the power of business to address America’s biggest challenges — building, backing, and operating companies from the heart of the Commonwealth.

OUR STORY

Built in
Kentucky.

Morris Industries, founded in 2010 by entrepreneur Nate Morris, is a Lexington, Kentucky–based conglomerate. We identify companies with unrealized growth potential — whose current ownership desires an exit strategy, requires capital, or needs an experienced management team to continue its growth.

FOUNDER

Nate Morris

Nate Morris founded Morris Industries in 2010. Before that, he founded Rubicon Technologies, one of America’s largest waste management companies — started in 2009 with a $10,000 line of credit and led by Morris as CEO for over twelve years, through a $2-billion transaction to bring Rubicon public on the New York Stock Exchange.

A ninth-generation Kentuckian raised in a union household by a single mother, Morris was the first Kentuckian named to Fortune’s 40 Under 40 and is the youngest inductee in the history of the Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame. He is the founder and Managing Trustee of the Morris Foundation, and resides at Commonwealth Farm in Lexington with his wife, Jane, and son, JR.

VENTURE STUDIOS

We build
companies.

Morris Industries is not a fund. It is a place where companies get built — by operators who have done it before. We start businesses, back founders with sweat equity as well as capital, and put experienced management alongside them for the long haul.

The proof is in the origin story: a waste-and-recycling startup legally formed with a $10,000 line of credit, built into one of only nine Kentucky companies ever to list on the New York Stock Exchange.
